Assemble your own Thailand travel plan

Thailand Travel Plan allows you to create your own trip by combining a series of modules, or bite-sized travel programmes. Strung together, these modules will form a longer itinerary. You can select modules from central, northern, and southern Thailand, covering as much ground as you wish during your stay. For more information see the how does this website work? page.

Central Thailand: in and around Bangkok

Your journey in this colourful country will begin in buzzing Bangkok. From here, you can visit the Kanchanaburi province most famous for the River Kwai, with its floating hotels and nearby waterfalls. You can also visit the royal city of Ayutthaya, crammed with spectacular temples and steeped in history. If you're looking for wildlife, you can take a trip to Khao Yai, Thailand’s oldest national park, to spot exotic species, or stay with a Thai family in a rural village.

Northern Thailand: elephants, hiking, rafting

After beginning your trip in and around Bangkok, you could now choose to head into the fascinating northern region famed for its incredible culture, nature and wildlife. Try a trek through the tropical countryside and visit the remote mountain villages. Ride through the jungle on a majestic elephant (the national animal of Thailand) and try your hand at paddling a bamboo raft down a fast-flowing mountain river. Nearly all of the tours leave from Chiang Mai- the unofficial capital of the north. In addition to trekking, you can also visit the mysterious Golden Triangle, staying overnight on the legendary Mekong river.

Southern Thailand: islands and palm trees

In southern Thailand, you can choose between lively, well-developed resorts or sleepy, isolated island hide-aways. We have found a number of islands with only a handful of hotels- perfect for those seeking that Robinson Crusoe feeling. However, there's far more to southern Thailand than its beautiful beaches. You can venture into the dense jungle of Khao Sok, a national park bursting with spectacular scenery, or snorkel amongst the coral reefs of the Andaman Sea. Enjoy the freedom of the open road while you self-drive the coastal road of Pha Nga Bay, or take a romantic slow boat cruise for a few days across warm, turquoise seas. You can wrap up your trip on any one of the idyllic beaches- each of which has its own special charm.
